Awareness matters. But it's not enough.
Most self-defence classes tell you to avoid danger, trust your instincts, carry your keys like a weapon. What they don't teach you is what to do when you freeze — or how to stay calm enough to act when it matters.
Embodied Power is different. Over six weeks, you'll learn practical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu escapes that work regardless of size or strength, alongside the mindset and nervous-system tools that let you actually use them under pressure. Real skills. Real pressure-testing. In a supportive, women-only environment.
“Your body needs to know what to do — not just your mind.”
What You’ll Learn
Six weeks, two layers — the physical skills, and the inner tools that make them stick.
Think you're not ready? You are exactly who this is for.
This isn't about strength — it's about leverage.
It isn't about fitness — it's about technique. And it isn't about being fearless — it's about being supported.
Embodied Power is built for complete beginners. No previous martial arts or self-defence experience needed. Every drill is opt-in, you can pause or modify at any time, and the whole programme is trauma-informed.
You stay in control of your experience from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. This programme is designed for complete beginners. We'll teach you everything from scratch.
-
The techniques are based on leverage and timing, not strength. You don't need to be fit — you'll build capability as you train.
-
We use trauma-informed coaching principles. All drills require consent, you're never forced into positions, and we emphasise agency and control. That said, physical self-defence training can bring up emotions — we create space to process that safely.
-
Our lead technical coach, Dominique, is male — an experienced BJJ coach with nearly 15 years' training, and the person who originally trained Zoe in self-defence. "Women only" describes the training group: it's a space exclusively for women participants. Zoe co-coaches on the mats and leads all the mindset and nervous-system work throughout.
-
That's completely normal and expected. Freezing is a nervous system response, not a failure. We'll work with you to move through it safely, and you can always pause and reset.
-
Completely normal. Most women feel nervous before starting, and it usually turns into excitement and confidence within the first couple of weeks. Everyone in the group is starting from the same place.
-
There are no striking pads or boxing-style drills — we're not trying to turn you into a fighter in six weeks, and untrained strikes don't hold up under pressure anyway. What you'll practise is escaping: getting out of grabs, holds, and pins, and creating enough space to leave. All contact is controlled and consensual, built up gradually, and you're never forced into anything uncomfortable.
-
Maximum 25. You'll have both a technical coach and a dedicated mindset specialist on the mats, so you'll always have support and eyes on your progress.
-
We recommend attending all six weeks for full benefit, but if you miss one, we'll catch you up. No refunds for missed sessions.
-
Full refund if you cancel within 7 days of signing up. After that, no refunds, but you can transfer your place to another woman if needed.
-
Absolutely. Training with a friend often makes it more comfortable and creates built-in accountability.
-
Let us know before you start and we'll modify techniques as needed. Many movements can be adapted, and we'll work with your body's capabilities.
